01-1COFFEE PROJECT

Programme Overview

Through the import and sale of “Him Café,” a premium coffee grown in Nepal, the country of the Himalayas, we support the creation of work opportunities for small-scale coffee farmers and women in vulnerable positions. The profits from its sale are used to help create environments where children in developing countries can live with dreams and hope, and to deliver the supplies they need.

“Him Café,” a Coffee from Nepal that Contributes to Society

“Him Café” is grown in the hills of Nepal, outside the coffee belt—something rarely seen in the world. At elevations of over 1,200 metres, small-scale farmers grow coffee on farmland that clings to the slopes. Each coffee cherry is carefully hand-picked, making it a “gift from the Himalayas.” Nurtured by the cool highland climate, distinctive soil, and rich biodiversity, the coffee has a fruity flavour and a balanced richness.

The coffee beans are roasted and packed by Nepal’s first coffee company, NEPAL COFFEE COMPANY, before being sent to Japan. Established in 1983, the company sells organically shade-grown coffee cultivated in the hills of the Himalayas. Him Café is certified organic by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), which has strict certification standards. It is an environmentally friendly coffee that brings a sense of happiness to those who drink it. Through work such as sorting, processing, and sales, the company also supports small-scale farmers, women, and others in vulnerable positions in living with greater strength and independence.

While an increasing number of coffee shops place importance on roasting their own beans, we intentionally have the coffee roasted and packed in Nepal before importing it to Japan because of this background. To deliver the coffee as fresh as possible, we choose to import appropriate quantities frequently rather than importing large volumes at once.

By purchasing one 250-gram bag of coffee, you can help provide one pair of football boots to Nepal or another developing country. Those who grow the coffee, those who process it, those who drink it, and those who receive the gift. From a morning cup of coffee, a circle of smiles begins to grow.

Participation in Markets, School Festivals, and Events Across Japan with Student Volunteers

Coffee is a familiar drink enjoyed in everyday life by people of all ages and around the world. Because it offers a familiar way to take part in social contribution activities, student volunteers have increasingly become involved in selling Him Café by setting up booths at school festivals, markets, and other events held across Japan.

Operating “REALE Deli,” a Permanent Stand at REALE PARK

In September 2025, “REALE Deli,” a permanent Him Café stand, opened at REALE PARK. Many people stop by, including residents from the local area, visitors from within and outside the prefecture who come to nearby tourist destinations such as Mount Omuro, and tourists from overseas. They enjoy relaxing moments over a cup of coffee.

Through conversations with the staff, more people are also becoming interested not only in the COFFEE PROJECT, but in REALE WORLD’s other activities as well.

We Welcome Companies, Organizations, and Independent Business Owners Interested in Selling or Offering Him Café
