03-4FAMILIA STUDY PROGRAM

Overview

If we think of the Earth as one home, then everyone who lives on it is part of one family—our Familia. REALE WORLD sees people around the world as one family and calls them Familia, a name that reflects the spirit of this study program. In Nepal and Timor-Leste, where FC REALE is active, members of the REALE Familia are living their everyday lives.

Through this program, participants visit the REALE Familia, experience their way of life, discover different values and perspectives, and broaden the way they see the world. It is an opportunity to encounter experiences that can truly change the way they live.

The Earth is our home. We are Familia!

Experiencing Nature and Culture at the Foot of the Himalayas — Nepal —

Experience reality. Experience the world. Experience yourself. These three experiences lie at the heart of the REALE STUDY PROGRAM. By immersing themselves in an environment with a culture and way of life different from those of Japan, participants are encouraged to experience each of these three dimensions on a deeper level.

Nepal was the first country where REALE WORLD established an overseas base. Over many years, our Japanese and local staff have built trusted relationships with the people and communities there. In this country, where mountain culture and religious traditions remain an integral part of everyday life, learning from its history and culture, experiencing its magnificent natural environment, and, above all, connecting with the local people awaken new perspectives and a deeper sensitivity to the world.

From Colonial Rule to the First New Sovereign Nation of the 21st Century — Timor-Leste —

Like Japan, Timor-Leste is an island nation. Much of its land, roughly the size of Japan’s Shikoku region, is covered by mountains, shaping the lives of the people who call it home. After gaining independence from Portuguese colonial rule in 1975, the country soon came under Indonesian occupation and endured more than two decades of conflict. Despite tremendous hardship and sacrifice, Timor-Leste finally achieved its independence in 2002, becoming the first new sovereign nation of the 21st century.

It was during this period of nation-building that FC REALE was established in Timor-Leste. Surrounded by rich natural beauty, children are growing up with the hope of shaping the future of a country where the memories of conflict still remain. Through encounters with the people and nature of Timor-Leste, participants are invited to reflect on what it truly means to live.
