子どもたちのヒーローになるために、もっとビッグな選手を目指す

レアーレワールドでは、ヒーロープロジェクトを通して、次世代を担う子どもたちのロールモデルとなりうるリーダーの育成をしています。

今回、お話を伺ったのは、ヒーロープロジェクトのメンバーとして活動しているチリン選手。
子どもの頃からネパール代表チームでプレーすることが夢だったというチリン選手ですが、この11月に行われたバングラデシュとの親善試合で、見事代表チームデビューを飾りました。
現在、ワールドカップ予選に向けて、代表チームセレクション合宿に参加中です。

そんなチリン選手に、サッカーへの思いや、今後の目標、レアーレワールドと出会って変わったことをお聞きました。

ーサッカーを始めたのは何歳の頃だったのでしょう？

僕は、首都から遠く離れたネパールの東部にあるイラム郡の村で育ちました。

サッカーを始めたのは７～８歳の頃だったと思います。サッカーといっても、本格的なものではなく、空き地で近所の友達とおもちゃのボールを追いかけて遊んだというようなものなんですが。

娯楽のない村の生活では、友達とサッカーするのがすごく楽しくて、時間があればボールを追いかけていました。

－本格的にサッカーをするようになったのは？

はじめは、遊びのようなサッカーでしたが、そのうちに学校のチームや、地域のクラブでプレーするようになり、村のトーナメント大会にも出場するようになりました。

15歳の時、隣のジャパ郡で行われていたネパール代表ユースU16のセレクションを受け、合格。カトマンズのANFA（全ネパールサッカー協会）で、初めて本格的な指導を受けました。

その頃から、いつかネパールの国旗を背負って、代表としてプレーしたいと思うようになりました。でも、プロ選手になろうとは思ってなかったんです。サッカーでお金を稼ぐという発想が当時の自分にはなく、ただ、上手くなりたい、ネパール代表になりたい、その思いで練習していました。

－念願のネパール代表デビューを果たした感想は？

2013年にU16に選ばれてから、2015年にはU19、2016年～2019年はU23でプレーしてきました。そして、今年2020年11月、バングラデシュとの親善試合に初めてネパール代表に選出されました。親善試合は2戦行われたのですが、２戦目にスターティングメンバーとしてデビュー。

うれしかったけれど、プレッシャーもありました。でも、そんなプレッシャーに打ち勝てないようでは、代表選手は務まりません。自分を信じて、全力でプレーしました。負けたのは悔しかったけれど、次の試合に向けて、もっと強くなれるよう、頑張ります。

ーレアーレワールドと出会う前と、出会った後では、何か変化がありましたか？

2018年からチャッスルユースクラブでプレーしていますが、そこでレアーレワールドと出会いました。サントス選手とレアーレワールドの代表理事と出会えたことは、自分の選手人生において、とても幸運なことだと思っています。特に2019年～2020年のシーズンでは、たくさんのことを学びました。

それまでの自分は、ただ、ただ練習していただけで、効果的な練習方法や、アスリートに適した食事などプロとして必要な知識がなく、プロとしての意識も低かったと思います。

レアーレワールドは、プロ選手としてのスキルだけでなく、自分をコントロールすること、感謝すること、周りの人を思いやることなど、人として大切なことも教えてくれました。

僕だけでなく、チャッスルユースクラブで一緒にプレーしたチームメートも、レアーレワールドのおかげで良い方向に変化しています。

ーヒーロープロジェクトについてどう思いますか？

ネパールはまだまだ貧富の差や、都市と地方の差が大きく、生まれた環境によって将来が制限されています。そんな子どもたちにも希望を与えることができるのがヒーロープロジェクトで、とても素晴らしい活動だと思いました。

リーグが終わったオフシーズン、村に戻って自分が子どもの頃通った学校の校庭で村の若者と一緒にサッカーしました。

僕にも、自分の村の若者のために、できることがある。

ヒーロープロジェクトは、それに気づかせてくれました。

村の子どもたちや、若者が希望を持てる社会にしていくためにも、自分ができることをこれからもしていきたいと思っています。

ー今後の目標は？

現在、3月に開催されるワールドカップ予選に向けた、代表チームのセレクション合宿中です。58人の選手がANFAに寝泊りして、毎日練習をしています。代表チームに選ばれるのは、この中の20数名。ここで選ばれることが目下の目標です。

さらに、その先の目標は、海外のクラブでプレーすること。

ネパールのリーグより、レベルの高い海外のリーグで通用する選手になりたい。だから、まずは代表選手に選ばれて、国際試合でいいプレーをしなくてはと思っています。

そのためにも、毎日の練習に力を入れ、選ばれるよう頑張ります！

Defender of the Nepal National Team

The next goal is to be in the World Cup qualification tournament team! Aiming to become a greater soccer player for the sake of becoming a hero for the children.

Reale World runs the Hero Project to develop leaders for the children who can become role models for the next generation.

In this next interview, we sat down with the soccer player Tshring who is a member of the Hero Project. It was Tshring’s dream to become a national team player since he was a child, and his dream had become a reality at the friendly match against Bangladesh in November to debut in the national team. Currently, he is joining the national team selection camp to prepare for the World Cup qualification tournament.

In such challenging moment, we asked him about his passion in soccer, his future goals and how he transformed after joining the Reale World.

How old were you to start playing soccer?

“I grew up in a village called Ilam county located far east from the capital of Nepal. I believe I started soccer when I was seven or eight years old. But it wasn’t anything in an actual style, but more like chasing a random ball with friends at an open field, just for fun. Back in the village where has no entertainment, playing soccer with friends were extremely fun, and I remember chasing a ball whenever possible.”

When did you start playing soccer seriously?

“At first, it was only for fun, but then I started playing for the school team and local club team, where I began to play for the village tournament. When I was 15 years old, I tried out for the selection at the neighbor county and was selected for the U16 national youth team member. That is when I started receiving intense trainings at the ANFA(Nepal Football Association) in Kathmandu, and began having the desire to play for the first national team of Nepal and represent our national flag. But it never crossed my mind to become a professional soccer player. At the time, I didn’t have the idea to earn money from soccer, but simply devoted myself in training to get better and become the national team player.”

What was it like to achieve that goal to debut for the national team?

“Since I was selected for the U16 in 2013, I moved up to U19 in 2015, and played for U23 from 2016 to 2019. Then in November 2020, I was selected to play for the first national team of Nepal in friendly match against Bangladesh. The friendly match had two games, and I was selected to debut in the second game as a starting member. I was very excited and feeling much pressure at the same time. But if I cannot overcome such pressure, I knew I wouldn’t be fit to continue in the national team. So, I believed in myself and left nothing behind in that field. Although it was disappointing to lose that game, I am currently making my best effort to get better aiming for the next game.”

Was there a change or growth after you started collaborating with Reale World?

“I met Reale World at Chyasal Youth Club, where I have been playing since 2018. Meeting Santosh Shahukhala and the chairman of Reale World has been one of the greatest blessings in my soccer career. Especially during in the 2019 – 2020 season, I have learned tremendous amount from them. This encounter had brought me realize how I have been practicing ineffectively for years, lacking a professional knowledge necessary such as having the knowledge of athlete’s diet or having the professional mindset.

Reale World taught me many things, not only about skills necessary as a professional player, but they also taught me how to really control myself, to have gratitude, to be compassionate to others, things truly important for my well-being. And this isn’t only about my growth, but the entire teammates in Chyasal Youth Club had shifted towards a better direction because of Reale World.”

What are your thoughts about the Hero Project?

“There is still so much disparity between the rich and poor in Nepal, a huge difference between the city and the suburb, which restricts people’s future depending on where they are born. The Hero Project is a project that can give hope for such children in disadvantages that I believe it is a fantastic project.

During the league’s off-season, I went back to my village to play soccer with youth players at the school that I attended when I was young. The Hero Project let me realize that there is something I can do for the younger generation in my village. This has motivated me to continue making contribution for the children in the village and for making brighter society where children can seek hope.”

What is your current goal?

“Currently, I am training in the selection camp of the national team for the World Cup qualification tournament starting in March. There are 58 players boarding at the ANFA to train every day, and only 20 of us will be selected for the national team. To be in this team is my short-term goal.

My long-term goal is to play for an overseas club team, because I want to become a player who can play for overseas leagues more competitive than Nepal. In order to do so, I need to get selected to the national team and show outstanding performances in the international game. 

Therefore, I will focus on my everyday training and do my best to get selected!”

Born in the east of Nepal at Ilam county located by the border between India. Selected to U16 national youth team of Nepal in 2013, U19 in 2015 and U23 in 2016 until 2019. From 2018, he became a professional player for the club team of first division in Nepal, the Chyasal Youth Club, and later achieved his long-sought goal to be selected for the fist national team of Nepal in November 2020. He has been also working with Reale World in the Hero Project since 2019.
